PLANET: Driving Progress in Environmental Sustainability
CDW’s approach to environmental issues is to be sustainable and efficient in our operational practices and seek to positively impact the environmental performance of our value chain. In 2023, we implemented greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets. In addition, we have furthered our collaboration with partners and bolstered sales enablement efforts for ESG solutions, empowering our customers to advance climate action deliberately and strategically.

CLIMATE ACTION
CDW is committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from our own operations and working with our partners and customers to take on the broader challenge of addressing climate change.
CDW’s Targets for GHG Emissions Reductions
- Reduce impact in our own operations: CDW commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 (operational) GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
- Engage our supply chain: CDW commits that suppliers representing 80% of purchased goods and services emissions will have science-based targets by 2028.
- Collaborate to reduce impact in our value chain: CDW commits to reduce total scope 3 GHG emissions from remaining categories by 25% by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
CDW has submitted the targets for validation and is awaiting approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
As part of our ongoing commitment to understanding and disclosing our environmental impact, we have assessed our Scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions. Access our 2021-2023 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Data.
Our primary opportunities to address climate change lie in working with our partners and customers to reduce their emissions and meet their environmental goals. We have developed an internal structure to build expertise and drive engagement.
Our Climate Action Committee is charged with continuing to refine and advance our climate strategy. The global committee and its cross-functional members oversee the identification, development and implementation of decarbonization activities that contribute to CDW’s climate goals, and are responsible for reporting progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) to our executive team and Board of Directors.
SUSTAINABLE OPERATIONS
We operate with strong commitments to environmental management, energy efficiency, waste reduction and recycling, and sustainable distribution and transportation.
All CDW distribution centers (two in the US and one in the UK) and two of our UK offices hold ISO 14001 certifications, the international standard for Environmental Management Systems. Additionally, our largest office locations globally, as well as our UK distribution center, have energy certifications – LEED in the US and Canada, BOMA in Canada and BREEAM/REGO in the UK.
