The SRCOOL7KRM Rack-Mounted Air Conditioning Unit pumps 7,000 BTU/h (2.0 kW) of close-coupled cooling power into your IT equipment to prevent shutdowns, malfunctions and failures caused by overheating. This space-saving, energy-efficient unit is perfect for data centers, server rooms, network closets and other environments with heat-sensitive rack-mounted equipment and limited floor space. The self-contained SRCOOL7KRM mounts just like any other rack equipment in 8U of space at the top or bottom of a rack enclosure. A magnetic air dam attaches to the front door of the rack enclosure to ensure that equipment draws cool air from the SRCOOL7KRM instead of drawing warm air from the room. Because it only cools the equipment inside the rack enclosure, the SRCOOL7KRM is much more efficient than solutions that cool an entire room to achieve the same result. The SRCOOL7KRM filters the air, and its built-in evaporator eliminates condensation, as well as the need for a floor drain or water collection tank.
The 7-foot cord plugs into a standard 15-amp (NEMA 5-15R) outlet. The unit restarts automatically after power failures, and you can use the built-in timer to schedule unattended shutdown and startup. The intuitive control panel includes a digital display and diagnostic LEDs to communicate operating conditions at a glance. The optional SRCOOLNET2 remote management accessory (sold separately) allows you to monitor temperatures, receive alerts, review logs and control settings over the Ethernet network from any location via SNMP, Web, SSH or telnet. The SRCOOLNET2 accessory also includes an ENVIROSENSE temperature and humidity sensor that allows you to link cooling output with temperature readings up to 12 feet away.

Rated 5 out of 5 byPBOKC from Great unit for the price and performanceI gave this unit 4 stars because something has to be pretty phenomenal to get 5. This was close. I ordered one of these and it sits in a rack in an attic and keeps that rack cool. It was not an ideal situation that lead to deploying this, but in an IT world, ideal isn't always possible. We have had this up and running for about two months and I have recommended it to a couple of other folks that were looking for something similar and will keep doing so. Pros :Simple set upWorks well Cons:Heavy. Taking this up the stairs was an adventure, but you have to expect that for something like this.Other thoughts: This unit saved us from having to build in a separate IT room. We put it in an old glass front rack with a perforated rear door and it does its job well.

Rated 5 out of 5 byBits from Needed to adapt to an "office" environment.Recently moved from a computer room to an office environment and had to adapt. With mainframes is was easy - vent the heat and pump in all the cold air you could come up with. Those days are gone and now we have to co-exist in spaces with people other than programmers. So how to keep the racks cool in an office kept warm? SmartRack 7000. Granted it is a bit cool for people in front of the racks but three feet either side and it is no big thing. Quiet & un-obtrusive - a definite winner in our new environment. I still want my seat back on the board of directors.......

Rated 5 out of 5 byNickHughes from AC is Blowing Hot Air More Than ColdI've purchased and installed two of these devices. The first is installed in a 48U enclosure in moderate heated environment. (90's) The AC didn't come with the ducting units so I ordered those once the AC units got here. Once I installed the ducting, I set the temperature to 65 and waited... and waited... waited some more. Little to no change. The unit will get cold and run cold for about 2-3 minutes and then it goes to ambient temperature again. Needless to say, it is a 700 fan at this point. I'm a network administrator for the largest private ESOP in the country and I was hoping to have found a cost effective solution for small cabinets on our production floor, however we will just be ordering the (6x) more expensive external mounted AC units for our application.Personally, unless you're working in an environment where you just want a supplemental $850 (after ducting kit) waste of money... don't purchase this product. I won't buy a Tripp-Lite product again after this experience. It simply doesn't do what it says it will do.
