Convert a VGA signal from a laptop or desktop to HDMI (USB-Powered). The VGA2HDU VGA to HDMI adapter lets you turn the VGA port on your Desktop or Laptop computer into an HDMI output port.
With the VGA2HDU, you can expand your VGA video output to accommodate the increasing number of displays and projectors that only support HDMI.
Not all VGA converters are created equal. This adapter ensures you're harnessing the highest video quality from your VGA output, with support for resolutions up to 1920x1080 (1080p).
For hassle-free setup the VGA to HDMI adapter allows for plug-and-play installation. Plus, with a built-in USB power cable the device is powered using the USB port on your computer. The VGA to HDMI adapter will work with any computer operating system, but when working with a Windows computer the adapter supports native USB audio, allowing you to add your computer audio to the HDMI signal.

Works when others don't
I've got three of these to replace the more expensive Startech adapter, VGA2HD2. The higher priced ones did not work in our environment (kept getting signal out of range messages on our large screen TVs) but this little guy worked 100%. I must say that Startech technical support was excellent in working with me.

Perfect Solution
I was out of town on assignment with an older laptop with no display port and no HDMI. Just a VGA out and usb. This was perfect for allowing me to use a larger TV as a monitor for a presentation. The USB uses power to convert analog to digital and doubles as audio for the HDIM.

Works like a Charm
I needed to convert the (optimal) 1280x800 output from my Dell Latitude E4200 to HDMI for presentations. I initially purchased a cheaper SYBA IO Crest (SY-ADA31025) unit from Amazon, which was described as supporting this resolution. That adapter did an "OK" job at lower resolutions, but at 1280x800, the screen displayed a "No signal" message on each of the output devices I tried. I arranged for a (pain-free) return and refund with Amazon. I then chatted with "Keith" at StarTech who assured me that this device (StarTech VGA2HDU) would do the trick, so I went back to Amazon and ordered one. I just plugged it in, and it works like a charm! My grandson is watching children's programming (on the e4200 and our 50" Samsung LED TV) as I type this. Picture and sound are flawless; no jitter, streaks or freezes. Highly recommended!
Thanks, StarTech. Thanks, Amazon. Thanks, Keith!

Worked flawless and automatically the first time!
I bought this adapter and a 20' HDMI cable to use Skype for an Office conference. The only problem I had was the need to change the Skype setup to use the computer's internal microphone, rather than the phantom HDMI microphone.

this one works from
this one works as expected. Cheaper ones don't
I had tried 3 different alternatives before this one and was relieved to find it works. I thought it was a simple matter to change from one kind of connecter to the other but there is a lot of signaling that has to be right for Windows 7 x64 to detect and talk to the monitor/TV at the other end. Don't waste your time or money on other devices.

Works as advertised! VGA out right to an HDMI input and no drama.
My boss has a Samsung TV and an HP Folio laptop on a docking station. Apparently the docking station and the TV aren't compatible, because when I connect the TV to the dock using an HDMI cable (and an HDMI-DisplayPort adapter) the computer blue-screens or otherwise malfunctions. I replaced the adapter, the cable, tried a different TV, tried a different laptop, tried a different docking station -- same result every time.
I wanted to connect the TV to the docking station using a regular old VGA cable but the TVs we use don't have VGA inputs. I bought this device so that I can essentially connect the TV (HDMI-only) to the dock's VGA output. It works just as advertised. I understand that the USB cable can provide audio over the HDMI connection but I haven't tried that. I'm impressed that the manufacturer used USB as a power source, though. This makes setup very neat and easy -- no extra power bricks and DC power cords to deal with. I connected it today so I can't speak for long term reliability, but it does work right now and I'm very happy with the purchase!

Exactly what I needed!
My computer is older and didn't have an HDMI attachment so I had to have a VGA to HDMI adapter. CDW had just what I needed - immediately. Great service and quality.

Not a "HDMI to VGA Dongle" as stated in main features section!
I bought this because I thought it could go both ways as it states "HDMI to VGA Dongle" in the main features section. Not so! Tried multiple displays and power supplies. Works the other way around but they need to remove that from the description so it doesn't mislead people like myself.

Great product
By using the video card with the VGA, it makes it a clearer, and more clean picture and doesn't use more processing power than needed. Have purchased converters that do not have the VGA, and it runs skittish and has a slightly blurry picture while making my laptop hot from process power being used to convert it via USB. Great product. Definitely a must-buy for anyone that has laptops that do not have HDMI ports but does have VGA ports.
