Great all-in-one adapter
This adapter is small enough to travel with, but has all the features I need in the office. My Dell Ultrabook has its own power adapter, but I was happy to see that this adapter could charge it through the USB-C port as well, saving me from having to look at a second adapter. The Gigabit Ethernet port, HDMI and 2x USB3 are all I need, and I can’t get over how small it is for all the features.

Works great on the new Macbook
Simple little device that provides HDMI, ethernet and a couple USB3.0 ports. Download the drivers from StarTech's website (it's a little file), unzip, run the Mac installer pkg, restart, and it just works. On one of my Macs, after installing the drivers, the OS froze on bootup. But a quick "turn it off and on again" made that go away, and the device works flawlessly. On a Dell laptop, that same downloaded zip file had the Linux and Windows drivers, both of which worked without issue.
The adapter can be used with or without the laptop's power passing through. With power connected, everything works, AND the laptop charges. Just be sure to disconnect the StarTech device, then either connect/disconnect power, and then reconnect to the laptop. If you remove power from the StarTech device while it's driving HDMI, the laptop will think external video is connected still, but nothing will show on the external monitor. So resetting the device, as noted, brings everything back.
A removable or longer USB-C cord would be really great here, as having to run the network and HDMI cables right up to the laptop due to the short USB-C cable is a little ugly, but....
Let's face it, the device does what it is supposed to do.

When it works, it's fine.
I have an issue where the monitor connected to the HDMI port won't display after waking from sleep. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro and it shows the monitor is connected, but the screen stays black. The only way to get it to come back on is to reboot the machine. I've tested different cables and ports on the MBP, but nothing works.

Like a mini docking station!
With two USB 3.0 ports, gigabit ethernet and HDMI, the USB-C multifunction adapter for laptops is like a mini docking station for users on the move! Whether you are travelling, visiting customer / client sites or just going to different work facilities the multifunction adapter has it all in a small for factor (fits in my hand).
It does need a usb c power source which is not included but laptop or cell phone chargers will work just fine.

Full compatible with Dell XPS
I did a test with this product for 3 months and it works very well on my Dell XPS 13. The Lan and HDMI does its job perfectly and I had no issues. Its a nice way to get a dock station for a small space. I like it.

Works well except for annoying Macbook reboot bug
Just like the other reviewer said, it works great except that with a 2016 Macbook Pro 15" you need to reboot in order for the HDMI monitor connection to work. Otherwise it shows as connected on the Macbook but the external monitor screen is black. After a reboot it works fine. Charging works fine. And yes the USB-C cable from the dock could be another 2-4 feet longer as you need to keep the dock fairly close to the Macbook.
StarTech - is this a driver issue? Have you looked into it?

Perfect for any USB-C Laptop
This replaces a handful of dongles and is the only adapter I carry with me now. 2x USB3 Ports, power delivery, HDMI and Gb Ethernet. After installing drivers, it has been rock solid on my 2016 MacBook Pro,
For our company, this adapter is the sole accessory we bundle with new Mac purchases, replacing the Apple Multiport Adapter (Power, HMDI, Single USB 3), Apple USB 2 Ethernet Adapter, and a small USB hub w/ power supply - a total of 4 items (counting the power supply for the USB hub) reduced down to one.
