Very useful adapter for older monitors to newer laptops
This StarTech HDMI to VGA Adapter - Active Monitor Converter Cable - 1080p works as described. I have not used it for long, and I had no issues with it so far. It is definitely plug-and-play.

Lost Resolution
Bought this adapter to use an old VGA monitor with a newer HDMI computer. The resolution and clarity on the monitor is not as good as it was before. I'm now purchasing a new monitor with HDMI input - guess I wasted my money on this adapter.

I've needed to use these on newer laptop computers in the past that did not have VGA output when trying to connect to newer LCD TV's. Nothing special, same as any other gender changer is for other cables.

Saved my skin several times.
This is a great product. I work in a Point of Sale Company and the Kitchen display systems, that had always been VGA are now coming in with HDMI. Customers do not want to purchase another monitor so, I have been using this to convert the Monitor over to HDMI. Works like a dream.

Problematic, to say the least
Bought one of these a short while back, worked for about two weeks before showing issues. attaching the VGA to the port showed that the part hadn't been machined correctly and so i had to force the pins to screw in. It worked temporarily but when i used it to test the connectivity of a display as the other cable had stopped working, it too didn't work. This led me to the wrong conclusion about the integrity of the VGA cable we had. Only after I had double checked with another adaptor did i find out that it was the adaptor.

Fills the need
I had a monitor that I needed added as a second monitor. After connection, the picture is grainy, but that is to be expected when connecting older hardware (the VGA monitor) to newer hardware. This has satisfied my need. Thank you!

This device works easily with Windows 10 as advertised. Keep in mind that it only works when connected to a PC, and will not work when plugged into a HDMI wall jack

Purchased this item for my HP Envy 19 Laptop. Laptop only had a HDMI connection and my monitor only had a VGA connection. Didn't want to buy a new monitor so gave this a try. It connected with no issue and works great. Highly recommend this item.
