Looks great, good colors, but terrible IPS Glow
I have been using this monitor for a couple weeks now and can say it is a good monitor with excellent colors. There is a very premium, almost professional look for something suited toward “gamers”. This is my fourth 4k IPS monitor and it has provided the best overall image hands down. The colors are very crisp and the jump to 144 HZ at 4k has been a very pleasing experience (using an RTX 2080 as source).
The HDR mode is nice to have, but as many reviews have pointed out, the local dimming is not very impressive and does more harm than good in my opinion. I also found myself using SDR by default and using LGs out of the box “HDR Effect” mode when I want the added HDR livery.
While it does not disappoint with color and smoothness, my unit suffers from pretty bad IPS glow to a point is can be distracting, especially in darker environments. Comparatively, the IPS glow on my GN950 has been the worst of any monitor I’ve owned. As always with an IPS monitor, your experience with IPS glow will vary depending on many factors.
One of the ways I got around IPS glow on some previous monitors was lowering the brightness while working in darker environments. Even at the lowest brightness setting, this monitor is BRIGHT. I can only subjectively compare zero brightness on the GN950 to around 15-30% brightness of my old 350 nit peak monitor. I was a little disappointed the GN950 could not get any dimmer to help reduce the IPS glow effect in darker environments.

OK
Good picture quality and colors. Decent choice amongst 4K 144HZ gaming monitors.
Cons to consider:
- The default displayport-to-displayport cable is very short (around 1 meter), I need to buy a longer one myself
- Inverse ghosting occurs in 1ms response mode (details you can check out the tech reviews)

Great monitor
Very good color quality, brightness and response time. Definitely the best bang for your buck at 4k 144hz. The stand is rather good as well and allows for about as much adjustment as you could hope for. The only issues I've encountered are ones that every single IPS panel will have, corner glow at close viewing distances, blacks not as black as a VA or oled. Those are easily outweighed by the positives though.

Great Monitor
Loving the monitor. Clean, borderless display, and great 4K picture. The only complaint is that when I bought this through Amazon the monitor came and wasn't working properly so I had to send it back to LG to fix it. They did great work, but the customer service wasn't the most responive.

Outstanding for both work and gaming
I pre-ordered this display and have been using it heavily for over 3 months. It's been the ideal solution for my needs. I use it with both Windows and Mac OS systems in addition to a Playstation 5 console. It performs extremely well with each system, for both work, multimedia, and gaming. While all of my games run at 4k 60fps with HDR, I especially enjoy the few that run at 120 fps with HDR. Also, the color accuracy is excellent and was a huge improvement for me over other displays. While IPS displays all have the glow effect, I rarely notice it while actually using the display. Also, this isn't the best display for HDR, but it definitely improves image quality in my console games. If you need a display for both work and gaming, I don't think you can do much better than this for the money.

The best LG monitor
I bought this 3 months ago and I just started using it about 2 weeks ago when I finally finish building my first pc, and I gotta say I really like this new monitor, the HDR, brightness, 4K 144hz especially the RGB light! It’s pricey but it’s worth it. I would definitely buy it again if they release a 32” model.

Flat Out Great Monitor
I bought this monitor as a treat for myself with my year end bonus. This monitor is incredible. Its a very clear and bright picture. It feels as if I am looking at diamonds on the screen. Graphics cards can't deliver 144 fps in most games yet, but this monitor will take me to when they do.

Best value 144Hz 4K Monitor
I did a lot of research on what 4K monitor I should get for my new PC build that features an RTX 3090 GPU. I wanted a monitor that could take full advantage of this video card that was 4K, 144Hz, G-Sync compatible, full 10-bit color with no chroma sub-sampling, and HDR. What I really needed was a 4K, 144Hz monitor with HDMI 2.1 support, but there are no HDMI 2.1 monitors currently available in the 27” range, only large 48” or larger HDTV’s.
Luckily, there are monitors like the 27GN950-B that have all the features I wanted along with Display Stream Compression (DSC that will work with my RTX 3090 to give me enough bandwidth over a DisplayPort 1.4 cable to meet my requirements listed above. There were a few other monitors that met the specs I was looking for, but they were either prohibitively expensive, out of stock, or both!
This is where the LG 27GN950-B really stands out. It has all the high end features I was looking for without the high end price! Sure, those super expensive monitors had some extra features like Full Array Local Dimming (FALD), G-Sync Ultimate, and DisplayHDR 1000, but the LG 27GN950-B also has local dimming zones, is G-Sync compatible, is DisplayHDR 600 certified, not to mention I was able to find it in stock! So for half the price, you get 95% of the performance of those really expensive monitors! In reality, I think almost all but the most discerning gamers will love the performance and video quality of the LG27950-B. The only thing I can point out as a slight negative would be a small amount of backlight bleed on a completely black screen, but unless you are looking at a completely black screen, you will never notice this during actual use.
This monitor is a perfect match for my RTX 3090. I was able to easily configure my setup and was soon gaming in glorious 4K, 144HZ variable refresh rate (G-Sync) at full 10-bit color with no chroma sub-sampling along with HDR. Words cannot convey how beautiful the video is on this display. Colors are accurate and the smoothness of the high frame rates at 4K is breathtaking. The realism is amazing. I’ve been running MS Flight Simulator 2020 quite a bit and I find myself just staring at the beautiful views. It is so easy to get totally immersed in the gaming environments! Needless to say, still photos are just incredible on this monitor.
To conclude, I would highly recommend the LG 27GN950-B monitor if you are in the market for a truly amazing 4K experience. In my opinion, this is the best value monitor in the 4K space at the moment, the sweet spot of 4K gaming monitors. Until there are HDMI 2.1 monitors widely available, which I imagine won’t be for at least another 6 months or so, this is the 4K monitor to get! You won’t be disappointed.

Amazing picture!!!
I've been waiting for this monitor to come back into stock for quite some time, and LG let me know when they had it back in stock so I just received the monitor this last week. I have ran it through the tests and have maxed out on ultra settings, 4k with frame rates toping 100+ FPS and this monitor is absolutely amazing!! The graphics are stunning and there is absolutely no tearing or stuttering whatsoever. I love the different settings they have for presets, and the monitor sets up in literally a couple of minutes at the most. Very easy set up right out of the box. I also like how they have put in two expansion USB slots into the back of the monitor and the design of the monitor itself. If you want a very fast and extremely responsive 4K gaming monitor that can give you in my opinion the best picture possible, than look no further than this monitor. I am extremely impressed and glad that I purchased this. LG has made a customer for life with me.

Best monitor for both worlds
I've been using this monitor for a few weeks. I give it 9 out of 10 easily. It is a 4K resolution with excellent color and brightness which makes it excellent option for content creation and daily use. In addition, it is 144 Hz with 1ms response which makes it ideal for gaming. I love the frame-less design and the adjustable height. However, it does not swivel. Also there is no speaker and no UBC type-c for input signal.

Great Monitor for PC Gamers
I am by no means a monitor expert, just a regular Joe that like to game on pc. I have been using this monitor for over a 3 months now. All the features work as expected and lead to a beautiful smooth picture. I have had no issues thus far and continue to enjoy this monitor for both work and gaming. As has been said by some reviewers for this monitor, I think this is currently the best 4K gaming monitor on the market for both its features and price!
Only issue I encountered thus far is that it froze one time (not a pc freeze, monitor itself would not respond. I simply unplugged and replugged, and updated the monitor driver, and have not seen the issue since.
Very pleased with this monitor and can safely recommend it to pc gamers who want to game at 4K 144hz. Do not buy the monitor for HDR though, I have heard from reviewers and can confirm that the HDR, while better than some, does not provide an amazing experience. The HDR experience is not lack-luster, just not great. Unfortunately I cannot recommend to console gamers trying to utilize the full feature set of the monitor since the hdmi port is not the newest spec (hdmi 2.1) and can’t do the full 144hz @ 4K. (Console gamers will be limited to 4K @ 60hz)
In conclusion, for pc gamers that want a high refresh rate 4K monitor for a reasonable price, look no further! Console gamers that want 4K at above 60hz should wait for a new monitor to release that has the hdmi 2.1 port. People that want a monitor for the HDR experience should look elsewhere.

Lack of HDMI 2.1 is so disappointing.
You guys almost had the perfect monitor. How you could release it without HDMI 2.1 knowing full well Next Gen Consoles were coming that utilize it is so short sighted. Otherwise is a great PC monitor but skip this if you're getting a Xbox Series X or PS5. Btw, for those saying there won't be any 4k/120 games there are already 9 confirmed titles coming to the Xbox Series X.

I am happy with my purchase so far and the colors are more vibrant than my previous 4K monitor I replaced it with. The biggest reason I upgraded to this monitor is the 144hz refresh rate with G-Sync compatibility and it is delivering exactly what I wanted. G-Sync was ready to be turned on right when I powered up the monitor and games have been very smooth so far even though I am "only" at 120hz (1080 TI limitations until I can pick up a 3070 or 3080.
My only issue is that the HDR falls flat for me. The whites/brights are way to high and make watching or playing HDR content not possible. The only thing I found that fixes it is turning the brightness down but then that makes everything too dark or look non HDR. Since stock is limited now I am going to wait a while and hope that something clicks and makes it start working as it should or I will reach out to LG for a possible replacement.
I have it mounted so no thoughts on how the stand is but it was extremely easy to get mounted as the inputs are in easy to access locations. Overall it is a great monitor with a lot of bells and whistles that will be able to take advantage of the newer cards that have/are coming out. No longer will you have to do a dual monitor setup with one for fast paced competitive online games and one for the more visually appealing single player games. It is expensive but with this kind of tech this monitor has it is unavoidable.

Great Monitor but can't disable deep sleep for DP
I really really like this monitor especially because it can do 144hz 10bit 4k & looks amazing. At the moment im running on 4k 8bit 120hz until I upgrade my video card that supports DSC for the full experience.
One BIG minus to this monitor is that it does NOT have a DISABLE display port deep sleep option in the OSD that most of LGs competitors do have... this causes major issues with running dual monitors unfortunately. When I move my mouse to wake the monitors up, everything from my 2nd monitor moves to my main monitor.. it's really frustrating. I really hope I get firmware update to correct this.

Amazing Display
This Display pretty much has it all. After using this for gaming as well as professional design work for 2 weeks I can definitely recommend this display
From refresh rate to responsiveness and Gsync/Freesync to color accuracy, fidelity, and even HDR. What LG offers at this price point is unmatched currently. HDR 600 is well enough for me at this point and does the job perfectly well.
I do understand the frustration some are expressing with the lack of HDMI 2.1 (PS5, Xbox usecase
But honestly, that is not an issue at all since most titles people are referring to will run at 60 fps hdr 4k on ps5. Given the fact that you will have a controller on PS5/Xbox with input lag and not a mouse-like fps scenario. Smooth 60 fps with free sync in 4k/HDR is exactly what 99.9% of people will ever need.
Meanwhile, this is running at 144hz 10bit 444 over display port without issues on PC and looks stunning!

No HDMI 2.1, No Point
The EVE Spectrum which uses the same IPS panel as this have recently upgraded their version to include HDMI 2.1 ports, proving this is indeed possible to do.
There would be no reason for me to buy this over that if this only uses HDMI 2.0 ports, as the product is essentially the same and also cuts out the backlights for a cheaper sale price.

Absolutely incredibly amazingly awesome!!
As this monitor is very new and haven’t really had enough time with it. It’s safe to say that this monitor (LG 27GN950) Is amazing. The crisp 4K visuals with HDR 600 pops with accurate colours and not a pixel to be seen. Thanks to the 1ms gaming is a obviously going to be amazing with smooth transitions without any ghosting to be seen. Not sure what the actual response time is though. For pc gaming this monitor can reach a whopping 160hz via overclock which is just fantastic. Although this doesn’t benefit consoles there’s still much more in this monitor that does. So the conclusion to this monitor is that it’s just one of a kind. AMAZING!!

Still poor contrast in 2020
No real improvement in contrast since first fast "gaming" IPS came out.
Because of Nano IPS and fast response times, every LG panel now has poor 700-800:1 contrast which is sometimes less than normal TN panels. Because of that even though it has so much colors, some shades are simply missing when compared to some "normal" IPS products.
Meanwhile others are trying to get the best contrast from IPS and they are consistently getting in 1100-1300:1 range at very similar speed.
Nano IPS colors are sometimes really amazing, but also in many instances they are just too oversaturated for normal usage, and sometimes even for gaming, but in games it mostly looks alright.

I'd love to get my hands on one of these (or two for a dual rig! My son and I purchased the 27GL850B for Christmas 2019, and I've been looking to upgrade mine now as well. After all the shopping, i keep coming back here, and now just found this!

Abandon Ship, No HDMI 2.1
If this had HDMI 2.1, it would have been an instant buy for me,
seeing that it's only HDMI 2.0, my money will now go to another monitor brand that has the same spec's of the 27GN950 but includes HDMI 2.1 and costs less.

Adapter
Might be able to use hdmi 2.1 to display port 4k @ 120hz adapter when it drops so xbsx and ps5 can take full advantage of the available specs. Adapter would be RTD 2173. I also would bet that companies are going to jump in on the adapter market so previous existing monitors can also be compatible with the 2.1 thru display port thus letting individuals use current gen specs on older monitors that support 4k @120 hz.

No HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120hz on Xbox Series X
Buyer beware if you’re buying next-gen consoles and are expecting to have HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120FPS gaming. Don’t listen to what other people are saying about “mY pC 2080ti CaN’t EvEn Do 4K 60FPS.” Multiple AAA titles have already confirmed support for 4K 120FPS like CoD BO4, Gears 5, and you’d bet Microsoft’s own Halo Infinite will do it also. Do not buy this product as LG cheaped out with HDMI 2.0 ports. Wait for the imminent product revision.

HDMI 2.0?
Seriously? The monitor supports 4K 160 Hz, well, let's say 144Hz, and displayport 1.4 without compression can maximum 120Hz 4k. Why these 160-144Hz if there is no HDMI 2.1?

Great looking monitor plagued by poor QA
Bought this monitor last week and it finally arrived today. The picture looks fantastic, other than an ugly piece of dirt trapped under the panel in the middle of the display.
This is not the only time that it's happened either -- lots of reports are now coming in on Reddit of users experiencing dirt issues.
A monitor could be heavenly, displaying all of the colors in the universe with an astronomical refresh rate and resolution...but that doesn't matter if there is dirt stuck in the middle of the screen.

Disappointed, no HDMI 2.1 , so no 120 Hz for PS5
Those who are jumping up and down that this can do 120 Hz gaming from PS5, calm down. PS5 will be HDMI 2.1 which is required for UHD 4k 120 Hz refresh rate from HDMI connector. This monitor is only HDMI 2.0 so it can only do 4k 60 Hz. I am disappointed, if LG came this far and not put HDMI 2.1 in this monitor. Somebody from LG please prove me wrong about HDMI 2.1 otherwise this is a deal breaker for me.

I think the general consensus is that this monitor will be a great one if it gets HDMI 2.1
if it doesn't, I'm sure it will sell but not nearly as much as all next gen console this monitor is tailored for, will have no need for the frames if its not compatible.

Great monitor at this price point
I bought two of these for a 4K gaming pc I was building. The monitors look amazing and the RGB, although not my style, can be appealing. There are issues with brightness when the monitor(s) go to sleep and come back on, but that is solved by power cycling the monitors. The software for the monitors is easy to use, however, it will only work if one monitor is connected at a time.
I have found the USB hub in the back of the monitors very useful and there are plenty of settings to adjust the monitor to your liking.

CPU use ONLY!
I bought the monitor two weeks ago for my Xbox Series X. Unfortunately, the HDMI ports are 2.0 which made gaming at anything above 4K at 60hz impossible. The pop up windows for settings for the monitor were also annoying as some cannot be turned off/dismissed. The menu was clunky and not very intuitive. I’m sure people using this monitor with a CPU via DisplayPort are happy but for anyone else, I would advise against.

Top of the Line!
This monitor is hands down the best 4K 144hz monitor you can get on the market as we speak(whenever its in stock). I have a R7 3700x RTX 3090 Build and most games are incapable of hitting 144hz at 4K in max settings. But to see even a 100fps in 4K HDR is immaculate. I recommend all next generation console users purchase a nanocell or QLED tv as those are capable of 120Hz 4K HDMI 2.1. Thats even if the next gen can output that type of quality. This i s by far best bang for your buck. My previous monitor was a LG 4KUHD HDR 60hz.This is an elite upgrade. And future proof. Highly recommend on any gaming level especially for PC gamers.

Mostly Perfect aside from overheating.
This monitor is great. I run it with an RTX 3080 and am always using it at 4K resolution. I do have one slight issue with it though. When running most games with high quality graphics at 4K 144Hz, the monitor tends to get very hot and it is unbearable to sit in the surrounding environment. It gets especially bad in the summer time. Other than that issue, it is a very good monitor. LG, I would greatly appreciate if you could look into the temperature issue. If it is unchangeable then consider this information for the next time you build a high spec monitor as such. All Love LG this is just constructive criticism.

Stopped working after less than a month
Worked well for 23 days. Then it stopped recognizing DP input stating No Signal. Tried different DP ports to make sure. Same No Signal response. I switched out the DP cable—same response. Switched to the HDMI that came with. That initially worked. After restarting, same No Signal issue. I've checked it on 2 different graphics cards with the same result.
And just to be sure, I tried plugging in different monitors to my graphics card—all of which had no issue.
Overall, disappointed. I would have liked to use the 27GN950-B
for longer than a month.

Owned for a Year, Great Monitor!
I bought this monitor in July of 2020, and it's been such a great monitor! I'm using this monitor with my PC, and I got extremely lucky and got an RTX 3080 through a local supplier (albeit a little overpriced) and so I get to take advantage of the high refresh rate and resolution on the daily. I love the backlight on the monitor, it doesn't get in the way or distract from the screen at all, and you can actually set it up so that the backlight matches the colors currently on the display. It's surprisingly adjustable too, you can tilt the monitor up and down on the stand and it can move up and down as well! What you see in the thumbnail picture is the monitor at around max height, you can adjust it to be much lower to the table if you prefer.
Oh, and in order to take advantage of 4k 144hz visuals, you do need to use the fancy display port cable provided with the monitor. The HDMI connector just isn't fast enough to transfer all that data. Even then, the display port uses some compression to achieve such quality, but there's no perceptible loss of image quality.
Some people are suggesting that most games won't even run at 144hz 4k, but that depends entirely on what kind of games you're playing. Destiny 2 runs great, Satisfactory, Subnautica, Elite Dangerous (before the latest expansion) all took advantage of the fast refresh rate and 4k resolution. Battlefront 2 and Jedi: Fallen Order were too much for my PC to handle in 4k surprisingly, so I played at 2k resolution and still had a great time visually.
I would recommend this for anyone who has an RTX 3080 or 3090, or the higher end AMD video cards, otherwise you're probably better off using a 2k high refresh rate monitor or maybe a 4k 60hz if you do video editing.

Never buying from LG again
I bought this monitor from Amazon, very excited about my upgrade to a decently priced 4K monitor! Unfortunately, the I found the monitor shut off after 45 seconds of being on. The power button light would blink red, twice, every 2-3 seconds. I troubleshooted, read forums on possible fixes, tried everything such as plugging the monitor directly into the wall instead of a power strip, etc. The monitor requires you use the accompanying hardware/cables. I finally called the support number to see if there was anything else I could do, and ended up having to ship the monitor to the repair store for an easy fix. Timeline to repair was up to three weeks; I got the monitor back after one week which I was pleased with. However, after setting up the monitor again, there was absolutely zero repairs done and I was still stuck with the same issue - it shut off after 45 seconds, power light blinked red every couple seconds. All in all, an inconvenient situation and huge waste of time and resources for me.

Ticks all the boxes
I was looking for a 4k monitor with low response times and a 144hz refresh rate. This is truly a "do it all" monitor that has been great for PC gaming and work.
The only additions I can recommend for this monitor is the inclusion of a thunderbolt port and HDMI 2.1 ports. When using PC gaming, display port works great. Console players may want to look elsewhere.

Great monitor at a great price
I'll start with how I always looked at 4k as completely worthless on anything under 38", with the mindset that having so many pixels crammed into a small monitor is a wast of time. well, I bought a laptop with a 15" OLED screen that just so happened to be 4k as well, and I completely changed my tune and decided I HAD to upgrade my main PC's monitor as well.
The reason I changed my tune is because having such a high pixel density makes everything look incredibly sharp. Text looks more readable, it's easier to pick out detail in images, and it's just a better experience in general. My only real complaint would be the size. I've never liked big monitors, I didn't like having to up-size from 21.5 to 24 to get 144hz, let alone going from 24 to 27 in this scenario, but This is the smallest 4k monitor I've found that can also do 144hz and it's an excellent monitor at that.
I think it's safe to say that this is the single best monitor I've ever had in all respects: color accuracy, response time, everything. It's an absolutely gorgeous panel & I'm incredibly happy with it. It has everything I want: 4k, adaptive sync, high refresh rates, great color accuracy, only place it falls on it's face is HDR. The edge lit back light really lets the HDR mode down, honestly being more comical than anything when it's turned on. However, if you don't care for HDR like myself, it looks amazing without it.
-TL;DR-
Pros:
•4k
•Great colors
•high pixel density
•adaptive sync
•Good response time
Cons:
•Too big imo
•Edge lit back light makes HDR worthless
•No way to stop the display from disconnecting from the computer when the computer turns off the displays (as far as I can tell) when using Display Port
•External power brick

Prefect combo for a creative and gamer
I am designer and gamer and have been wanting a prefect dual combo monitor and this one hits the sweats spots, from color accuracy and crystal clear picture for my design work and bring that to games with high refresh rate and bam you have a great gaming experience visually and with a high refresh rate for smooth gameplay.
Only downside this is an HDR monitor but HDR is lacking. I appreciate the feature for the price point but it’s not very good. Minus that this is a great monitor packed with features for a good price point.

Bought this monitor a couple of weeks ago and I will be returning it shortly.
As other reviewers have mentioned it won't wake from sleep automaticaly so you have to disconnect and reconnect te cable to get it to work again and as mentioned the hardware colour calibration is broken.
I could probably have lived with these issues, but mine also has a cluster of dead pixels, which also seems to be a common problem. All together I find the quality of product totally unacceptable at this price point.
Final verdict: Not recommended.

Excellent 4k Gaming Monitor
I have used the LG 27GN950 for two weeks now, it's the single monitor attached to a Nvidia 3090 card, connected via a DP 1.4 cable (as well as a parallel USB connection to deal with updates and LEDs.
The monitor has an excellent, crisp picture. The anti-glare coating is great, and at 144Hz it's an ideal gaming monitor, especially with G-SYNC on (correctly recognized in Nvidia driver versions from 456.71 onwards). Color gamut is outstanding, and the fact that the monitor can be hardware-calibrated is definitely a plus. Calibration wasn't too far off of the box, but improved slightly with the use of a Spider4 (do keep contrast at the factory "70" for best results).
The monitor's lack of HDMI 2.1 inputs may be regrettable (it wasn't something I was looking for), but LG is clear on the subject, so that really doesn't count against it. The LCD ring in the back is absolutely garish - I have set it to off (and still regret having to watch the unavoidable lighting bits when the monitor starts up). My personal feeling is that the BOM money for the LEDs would have been better spent on HDMI 2.1 or multiple DP 1.4 ports... but that's an opinion.
Finally, HDR. Another feature I wasn't looking for. And that's a good thing, as it's absolutely abysmal. Look somewhere else if you want good-looking HDR - preferably in the realm of OLED screens, as IPS LCDs are really not where that's at.
In conclusion, an excellent purchase if what you're looking for is a blazingly fast, color-precise, high density 27" gaming monitor. An HDR TV with HDMI 2.1 input it's not pretending to be... but it *is* an excellent high-end screen item for hardcore PC gaming.

Great monitor for the value
I have had this monitor for a little over a week now and truly enjoy the clarity, speed, and quality of this monitor. I have been looking for a decent 4K that wasn't going to break the bank, and this one delivers 100%. This monitor is easy to set up and configure to work the way you want. I do recommend downloading the "LG UltraGear™ Control Center" app. This will allow you to configure the LEDs on the back of the monitor.
The quality, features, and value is truly a dream come true for me.

I was extremely upset when the monitor arrived because when I received it the display would not output anything above 60hz nor would it overclock granted this is not guaranteed with the monitor but it is still upsetting I called LG support four times before I got any actual help i am currently awaiting it to be repaired and sent back to me

Best Monitor in its Class
If you’re lucky enough to spot one - it’s unquestionably the top pick for 4K 144Hz GSYNC 27” displays. Gaming looks amazing, so does text/reading/photos/etc. The only other monitor with similar specs from asus has huge ugly bezels.
This is a beautiful monitor. Slim, minimalistic, modern and sleek.

It's so good!
This is my first 144Hz monitor and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 60Hz and on that is much faster. It is so smooth and responsive, even just moving the mouse around the screen I can see the improvement.
This also happens to be my first HDR screen (either monitor or TV) and again I was worried that the HDR 600 rating with the edge lighting would be hardly noticeable, but man was I wrong. 4k HDR video and games looks amazing.
I've also noticed no ghosting, dead pixels or any other imperfections. The LED lighting on the base is a nice touch, and looks good. Set up is easy and the build quality is very good.
My only complaints are that I can tell there is some edge light bleed through on the edges (mostly the lower corners) at times on non-HDR videos and when viewed at an angle the overall brightness of the screen does look duller.

Purchased two months ago - amazing upgrade from my old 23 inch monitor. The size is perfect for gaming and work. Gsync works great, games look much better than before. The stand that's included was amazing... felt bad about taking it off to wallmount. No issues or concerns, beautiful picture. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

Really good but a few complaints
Everything seems really good, did a lot of tests with this monitor and it was everything i wanted so far.
the only three things i noticed.
if you use the "Faster" Response time.
there was ghosting, so i had to use "Fast" which defeats the whole purpose of the 1MS delay of the panel.
the 2nd is the HDR, a lot of things are good with HDR, but it could be a lot better.
(this is my first HDR monitor, and noticed this monitor did the minimum for it).
the 3rd is for consoles(i dont really have any that goes over 60fps atm for consoles).
that is, The HDMI does not supports higher Hz than 60hz/fps, i read online that it needs to be 2.0 ports to support it, and its not, And you could probably try a DP to HDMI to get it to work, but i am not 100% sure. So i figured i would throw this one in despite not really gaming on consoles as much(i keep them exclusive to the console and everything PC)
other than that, everything seems great.
i game, work(make models/games and texture edit), and do a lot of reading on this monitor.

Best monitor I've ever had.
I upgraded to this monitor after my ROG SWIFT started getting dead pixels and bleed-in. And I have to say it has not disappointed. No dead pixels when it arrived and it doesn't get dangerously hot anywhere like the ROG did when I got it.
I currently run this monitor with a 3070 GPU and games have never been more beautiful. I likely won't be replacing this monitor until it breaks from me using it so much.

All around perfect monitor
I bought this monitor over a year ago and I've thoroughly enjoyed it since day one.
Unboxing and setup was a breeze, very easy to put together and get plugged in.
The refresh rate on makes gaming or just scrolling through webpages buttery smooth.
Even if my computer isn't quite powerful enough to pull off high FPS in 4k, that's no fault of the monitor.
If I had to come up with a complaint, it would only be the price tag. But it's understandable given the specs and quality of the monitor.

I like the colors produced by this motior when playing Youtube video specially related to Jazz and Latin music. It feels like having a 4k TV in my office.

Best monitor I've ever owned, off course pricey
I had my eye on this for almost a year and finally got it when it was in stock a little over 6 months ago. Like most of LG monitors the color accuracy and range is great, response time is very low, wide viewing angle, and easy to use controls. Getting a 4K monitor with refresh rate and low response time is of course costs you $$$, but if you are reading this you already know that. The only complaint that I have is about the stand. It does go up and down and tilt, but won't rotate. I guess I can always rotate the base, but... RGB lighting on this is awesome. All in all, if you are a 4k gamer or you want to use this for work and gaming both (4K matters when reading pdfs and writing code), I cannot think of any bettter monitor. Trust me, I even bought the acer 4k high refresh rate low response time equivalent and had to return it because of build quality, color bleed, etc. And I have actually looked for a year.

Just needs HDMI 2.1 for perfection.
Since I’ve been working from home, I’ve been looking for a monitor that would be able to match up with my MacBook Pro and provide me eye pleasing resolution and text clarity. Also, as an avid gamer I wanted a monitor that had specs to keep me competitive while playing fast paced games like CoD Modern Warfare, Warzone, Cold War. This monitor is able to do both very well. As a work monitor my eyes are thanking me for the ease of reading clear text. My monitor before could not handle Apples Retina display and provided text that was blurry causing my eyes to work harder. My wife would comment on my eyes always looking tired and puffy after work. Since purchasing this monitor I no longer have eye strains or puffy eyes. For gaming this monitor is great the specs speak for itself. My only gripe is the lack of HDMI 2.1. If you’re strictly a PC gamer this isn’t a problem, but I plan on getting a next generation console in the near future and this monitor would prevent me from experiencing 4K at higher FPS. LG has teased the market of a new monitor that is basically this monitor but with the addition of HDMI 2.1. The name is LG 27GP950. I’ve been waiting for it’s release since late December last year and finally cracked and bought this monitor. Supposedly it comes out in April 2021 but even then you run the risk of the monitor being sold out like this one was for months. As much as I wanted and tried to hold out for the next model my eyes and work life needed this monitor. Overall I’m very happy with this purchase just wished it had HDMI 2.1. Another thing, the monitor has an RGB ring in the back which is nice but I usually keep it off. I haven’t found a way in the settings to turn off the option of it lighting up as the monitor wakes up. Every early morning I start my day at a rave with the light show and theatrics of the monitor.

fix the deep sleep issue
Two major issues that are ignored in most reviews but are acknowledged by anyone owning the monitor:
1. fan noise is annoying. If you are sitting in a quite room you are going to hear it.
2. Displayport deep sleep issues that are mentioned in every customer review are a deal-breaker: the monitor does not wake up if your PC goes to sleep. Your settings are reset any time your PC turns off or goes to sleep. If you have more 2 monitors and your GN950 is the main one, expect all windows to disappear and switch to the second monitor every time your PC goes to sleep.

Almost perfect
I really love this monitor and after the update having the ability to hit a 160 Hz is fantastic but the one problem that's going on with this monitor is the local dimming which can cause illumination around brightly lit areas in with a dark background. Well this is not a deal breaker it is distracting when playing a dark game were looking in a dark background or your mouse moves over a dark area you can see blooming in a bar up and down the monitor during to edge lighting instead of full array back lighting. While this would help it would also add price. If I could give 4 and half stars I would. Almost perfect.

I just picked up the monitor from Microcenter and I'm having hard time to plug in the power adapter to back of the monitor. It's not tightly plug in to the plug hole. It feels like power adapter plug in not going all the way into the plug hole. So it's so easy to disconnected when you rotate the monitor. I wonder if other products having the same issue.

Fair warning. Buy this monitor at your own risk. The display is awesome but the monitor has issues when your computer goes into a deep sleep and fails to wake up. Great gaming performance with caveats
This performs really well from a gaming perspective. The main issue I have with it is the contrast ratio. It doesn't get very dark. Blacks are medium dark grey. That makes HDR essentially pointless.
Still, if you're looking for a fast 4K gaming monitor, you could do worse for the price.

Overall Great Performance
I bought this awhile ago and have been very impressed. I'm using it with a 2080ti and it looks great, it took me awhile to move from 1440p because I was looking for a 4K monitor that was 144hz and would perform like a 1440p monitor and this one does exactly that. Use DLSS and you get FPS like you're still using a 1440p monitor except you get deeper blacks and clearer picture. I see why its rated so high on Amazon.

Very Disappointed
I purchased this monitor from LG last week. It arrived today and it had a display issue out of the box.
On setting up the monitor, it showed a pink band on the right side of the screen from the top to the bottom. This was apparent even when the HDMI cable was unplugged (so the monitor was receiving no video signal).
Then after about 30 minutes, while I was trying to reach someone at LG who could address the first problem, the screen started displaying 2 different brightness levels on the left and right sides (in the photo the left side is correct; the right side is too dark).

The display is everything I expected and hoped for; 4K with deep blacks, color accuracy and a high refresh rate. This fits well with my work and gaming needs. However, it needs an HDMI 2.1 port, in this day and age that should be standard on all displays that are intended for gaming or high quality experiences.

A monitor, yes I know you wanted more of a review. It does what it is suppose to do, looks good doing it. I haven’t had any problems with it. The lights on the back actually go off and don’t come back on when the computers off, which is my keyboards favorite past time, which means I have to boot up the computer just to turn my keyboard off again. However with this monitor you do not have to do that, which is very cool, yes the lights on the monitor work when the computer is on but they stay off.

Great monitor, 4K & Fast!
This is a great monitor. I have this monitor as my primary for gaming as well as a Monoprice VIVID "color accurate" 4K/60 monitor which also uses an IPS LG panel. I wasn't really a believer in the 144Hz marketing until I actually saw it in action. Once you have high-refresh rate+G-sync, you can never go back. I don't have a colorimeter to measure, but the white balance is definitely better than my Monoprice monitor, but also granted the LG was $300 more. The HDR 600 is a bit brighter than the HDR 400 rating on my MP monitor, but still not nearly as bright as my 1000 nit 65" Vizio P-Series TV. About the only con to this monitor is that the stand doesn't swivel, but I ultimately got a dual monitor arm mount. You do need a good amount of PC horsepower to really push this monitor, have a 5900X and RTX 3080 based system and the 4K+HDR in ultra quality settings on games just look amazing.

Broke in 4 days, return process is a nightmare
This seemed to be a great monitor for about 4 days... and then it stopped working completely. Now I've been introduced to the nightmare that is the LG return process. Nobody on the phone can help or provide straightforward answers, I've been disconnected multiple times, etc. I'm just hoping that by leaving a review, somebody at LG will take notice. It doesn't matter how good the product is if the company won't stand behind it when something goes wrong. Buyer beware.

HW Color calibration is broken
The monitor is pretty good for general gaming use, unless, like I did, you are also using it for colo critical tasks and planned to use the HW Calibration feature through LG Calibration Studio.
It initially appears to have worked, and the display looks calibrated, but any time it turns off it loses the HW calibration and you have to re run it to get it again. This defeats the purpose of even having the HW Cal feature to start with. The colors are not terribly off from factory calibration to be fair. Anyways, very frustrating and I've found other cases describing the same issue for this monitor. I hope they can fix this via a Firmware update or this guy is going back in 29 days.

Great, but quality issues
It's a great monitor except that there are two major issues I've been facing:
1. As noted by other reviewers, the monitor's advertised hardware calibration is currently broken. Calibration is lost upon every reboot. According to LG support the only solution is to calibrate on every restart (the mind boggles...).
2. On a couple of occasions now, the monitor failed to wake from sleep and had to be disconnected.

Which is not the issue I have also RMA my 4070Ti and got it back and still the same issue I keep having also for some reason when I am gaming on this monitor the blacks seem to be really dark and I have no idea why I also have to say that HDR makes whites way brighter than they should be and the blacks darker than they should I have also powered reset and pictured reset my monitor when calling customer service you are not able to speak with some one in the USA that understands English or Technology at they have no idea what they are doing or talking about but for the monitors build and shape is fine. What I do not like about the panel is that it push a white/grayish hasse on the over the game which should not be there also you have different profiles on the monitor that really like terrible but could be fixed and only game profile 1 Has HDR which they should all have and the hasseness should be taking out of the panel and more colors popping even when looking at white pages where you type the black outline some times also fads aways and you can barely see it

Great while it lasts but another LG defect hit me
Is it 4k @144hz? Yes! The fun ends there. Mine has had freezing issues since I first got it 3 years ago and just last month, it developed 1 yellow vertical line and now 1 purple vertical line next to that. It's ruined. I would say it's a fluke but it's the second LG panel I've had do this in the past few years. I no longer trust this brand.

Best monitor you can buy for 4K gaming, but...
A super great monitor which I've had for a few years now. Videos and games run smoothly on the screen. Colors are vibrant with huge customizability to suit your needs. GPUs and games pick up on monitor settings and comply when needed speaking to the quality of the firmware of the product. I was always a huge fan of LG because of their reliability (Own a 27UD88 since 2018 with no issues).
But, today I received a column bright blue pixels down the screen similar to another reviewer in what looks like a similar region to another reviewer. Quite disappointing since its approaching the 3 year mark which is not dated by monitor standards (especially as a 4k monitor with a high refresh rate, you're expecting to stay ahead of the curve for awhile).

DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE A CONSOLE GAMER
799 for a monitor that doesn’t have HDMI 2.1. This does not support VRR for console. You cannot play 1440p in 120fps. This monitor released in 2020 and is already outdated. Christmas gift for my son and they would not let me return due to 15 day return policy.

Great image but I wish the build quality is better
Top of the line image quality, but I've got a faint vertical light line after 3 years, which is also reported by many other uses on Reddit. I know the product only has one year warranty, but this is really what I don't expect from a $799 monitor.

Great monitor with Quality issues
After about 2.5 years the monitor developed a yellow and a blue vertical line. Not what I would expect from a monitor that costs this much. Otherwise, it was a great monitor. Fantastic image quality. I recommend that you buy the extended warranty if you decide to purchase this monitor.

Love the image, but a few issues
Love the image, but a few issues bring the score down.
1) Reliability. I read a LOT of folks get a full line of bad pixels around the 2.5yr mark. It happened exactly after 2.5yrs of the day I set it up for me.
2) The light bar at the back. No way to turn it off every time and just turn it on when you want... It's ON all the time and I have to turn it off when I dont want it on.
3) Priced high for only having a 1yr warranty!

Great on paper, poor quality control
I've had this monitor since early 2021. So roughly three years now. Only a couple months after the original one-year warranty, I got a series of vertical lines that you likely have already seen in other reviews. I sent it in for repair, and they quoted me $150 for both the repair and shipping. No big deal. Well, about another year later I encountered the same issue, with the vertical pink line. Fortunately, it went away on its own for a few months. However, once the vertical line returned I was quoted $350 in repairs for what should have never been an issue after the initial repair. Although I initially wanted to go through with it, I now find myself hard-pressed to spend that money just to delay the inevitable for just another year.
Overall, I once loved this monitor. I found the colors to be amazing, the response time to be quick, and had few issues if we ignore the vertical lines.

Very very nice.
Excellent visuals. The high refresh rate is especially appreciated when playing games. I have the 27 inch monitor that fits perfectly into the the cubby I have on my desk. The notch for holding cables on the monitor stand is a #great idea and has been extremally helpful.
My only issues and the one that keeps me from giving the monitor a five star review is that sometimes the monitor will not wake up after going asleep, and which requires the power cable to be removed then reinserted for the monitor to wake up. In all fairness, the monitor is connected to a new Windows 11 PC which might be a part of the problem.

DO NOT BUY!!! Issues and bugs
I’ve had this monitor for just about a year and it’s been a headache the entire time. The monitor has issues going to “sleep mode” . It would go to sleep but then upon waking, the backlight would stay on but nothing would show up on screen. The display port was having issues and the monitor would rapidly flicker on and off. Ultimately I had to switch to HDMI, but then could not get 144Hz which defeats the purpose. I sent it for repair and the display port is working but now the monitor can’t go into “sleep mode” for longer than 10 minutes and it also prevents my PC from going to sleep. Then they tell me I’m out of warranty after a week of having my monitor be repaired. In my opinion the warranty should be extended if a major issue occurs with the product. Then talking to customer service, they provide very ridiculous solutions like unplugging it and turning back on, just to get off the phone with you. I’ve asked to speak with a supervisor and was told “they’re very busy and there’s no guarantee they’ll speak with you” . For a premium product LG has FAILED!! With the product as well as customer service. I have multiple LG products and usually like their products but they’re usually expensive and if this is the service they’re going to provide when one of their products is defective I’ll never buy an LG anything ever again!!

Astonishing Performance at a Reasonable Price
I simply can't recommend this monitor enough for those in the market for solid HDR gaming setup. I bought one UltraGear monitor for my performance PC setup, but was so impressed that I purchased a second one for a two-screen experience. The visual quality is honestly the best I have ever seen in terms of resolution, color quality, and responsiveness. If you do your research on this monitor, you're bound to find only glowing reviews. Buy with confidence!

MIssing pixels after a year of use.
I bought this the end of march 2021 and its now end of april 2022 and have a line of mixing pixels that appeared at the bottom of my monitor. I expected a bit more longevity and it really sucks that the 1 year warranty expired a month ago.
I do understand that sometimes you just can get something with defective parts that you have no real way of telling if they are sub-par or not. My 2k monitor ive had for 6 months longer and so far I have had no problems.
It was boxed well, and was easy to put together. I appreciate how easy it is to control with the...joystick type thing underneath. IT was a great monitor before the missing pixels. I am unsure if I will just buy another one or try to get one at maybe a more reasonable price. I mostly chose this one because I like matching monitors and it looks very similar to their 2k model.
I do use this model for many hours every day. It got much use in that year. I have tested both my GPU and my cables to make sure it was the monitor. I also plugged it entirely into a different computer and the problem persists so I am confident it's a monitor issue.

Purchased this to replace a 1080p 144hz monitor I had. Definitely night and day difference in picture quality. The thin bezel was definitely a significant upgrade. Software runs great and isn't buggy and I've had 0 issues with display.

Solid specs and coloring - iffy software
I purchased two of these monitors based on the specs, including color and refresh rate. One monitor required RMA process due to issues with flickering, however that was pain free thus far. The software for the color sphere is buggy and doesn’t work great. Lots of crashes there. I also cannot achieve the advertised 160mhz refresh rate. I’ve even followed up with support and cannot get my computer to offer the selection. Given I’m working with a 4090 GPU, I’m not sure why it’s unavailable and so difficult to achieve. Zero mention of it in the instructions.

Best 4K monitor at the time.
The only problem I have is the monitor stand being very large and it's shape making it waste alot of space on my desk, but you can always buy a mount if it's a issue. The resolution is useful for about anything, if you can use Windows at 100% scaling, do so. Otherwise keep it as low as you can. Which makes me wish why there wasn't a 32 inch variant at the time. I feel like it would've benefited from doing so. The colors are good enough for anyone, and I hope the entry for these types of monitors will get lower.

A Costly Letdown: Monitor Woes Beyond the Warranty
I bought this monitor just under three years ago, and my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. Two years after the purchase, the screen developed a frozen pixel line, significantly impacting its functionality. What's even more disheartening is that the warranty had already expired by then. To add insult to injury, the cost of repairing this issue is almost half the price of the monitor itself. The lack of durability and the manufacturer's unhelpful stance post-warranty make this monitor a regrettable investment. I caution others against this product, as its short-lived reliability and costly repair make it an overall unsatisfactory purchase.

Product has Common Issue That is Not Covered
The product worked great for 2 year but now it has about 3 vertical lines going down it. Customer support quoted me 350 dollars to fix a monitor that is now 529.00. Customer support basically is non-existential. If you want to spend this money it’s better spent elsewhere with a diffrent company.

Disappointed! Monitor Failure & Limited Support
I've been a loyal LG customer for years, owning many of their appliances and electronics. Recently, however, I experienced a frustrating situation with a 3-year-old monitor developing vertical yellow lines.
Contacting customer support, I was surprised to learn my repair options were limited. Despite my history with LG, the only solution offered was a $350 repair, which is nearly the cost of a new monitor.
While I understand repairs have a cost, I was disappointed by the lack of alternative solutions or an escalation path to a supervisor. This experience has unfortunately tarnished my perception of LG's customer service

Known Faulty Product - Stay Away!
This is a faulty monitor that develops vertical lines after about 2-3 years of ownership. It is well documented by dozens of consumer complaints on this website and on Reddit. I spent $1,600 on two of these and both developed lines right in the window every one else's did. LG will do nothing to meet customers half way and give them a break on the service fees. Their licensed service companies are even worse. LG charges $350 per monitor plus shipping to fix them and their local service techs charge over $100 just to look at the monitor. This is a HORRIBLE business practice on all fronts. I will never buy another LG monitor because of my experience here. A well deserved bad score.

Huge price, low quality, poorly designed companion
If you like a monitor priced at $800 that will only last 2-3 years this is the perfect fit for you. After that, you get a nice vertical line that you can use to keep your spot while reading online articles!!!
Don't want that line? Ok, they'll fix it for you for $350, but the monitor will be gone for 6-8 weeks. So I hope you have a backup or replacement.
Want dual monitors of the same kind? I hope you want to switch the USB cable around to manage the back LED ring or update the firmware, since nobody at LG conceived of the notion that anyone would possible have more than one.
Huge price, low quality, poorly designed companion software.

Vertical lines of corrupted pixels
This is unfortunately a fundamentally flawed monitor which LG will not stand behind. Like many others, I also experienced vertical lines after three years, which, based on the number of reviews that mention the issue, are a result of either a manufacturing flaw, or a design flaw, or both.
Based on the widespread issue of these vertical lines, I would have expected a more positive interaction with LG's support, whom I have contacted and with whom I come to a disappointing conclusion. They are clearly not interested in properly supporting their (fairly expensive) flawed product and cultivating customer loyalty.
As a result of my poor experience with LG's products and support, I will no longer be buying any LG products now or in the future.
It's a shame because if I didn't have this technical problem that required repair, or LG was willing to make it right, I would have otherwise been mostly happy with this monitor. My main issues with the monitor in a properly functioning state are 1) that the FALD backlight is quite visible in creating blooming on dark/black backgrounds and 2) the monitor does not adjust low enough. It's a minimum of 4-5 inches off the bottom of the base, which was a bit disappointing. Other than that, the monitor did what I expected it to do.

Uh oh! Vertical Pixel Lines!
Fantastic and amazing monitor for the price. However, shortly after the warranty was up did I get a straight line of yellow pixels vertically down the monitor on the right side, and it looks like a TON of people report this kind of issue too. I have three of these, and my oldest one is doing it... so I really don't hope that the other two are going to do this too.
I already tried swapping out the Display Port Cables with ones that work (from the other monitors) but the line remains. I think this is a flaw in the panel. I'd be really happy if LG would consider replacing this for me.

Kicked the bucket after 4 years of use.
Forgive me for giving the monitor a rather unfavorable review, but I do remember when products would last at least 10 years. Granted the performance was awesome and the thing has served me better than expected. However, $800 plus tax is nothing to sneeze at. For far less I've had monitors that have conquered the test of time.
I bought this from Best Buy almost 4 years ago exactly according to the receipt 9/16/2020, today is 9/8/2024. But as of a week ago I got a stuck pixel on the far left side, and now there's a vertical line across the monitor on the right. It's a shame, but I guess that's just what you get for a 1 year Manufacturer's Warranty.
I'll definitely try to stay away from LG from now on.
