Small organizations are notably advancing in IoT/OT integration, whereas medium and enterprise organizations exhibit more sophisticated approaches to cloud management and data integration.

1. Organizational Information

IoT Experience

Small organizations are more likely to experience rapid paybacks from IoT projects, with 38.0% reporting this outcome, compared to 30.1% of medium-sized organizations and 40.9% of enterprise organizations.

Operational Data in Cloud

55.4% of small organizations place limited operational data in the cloud with senior management approval. This is followed by medium-sized organizations at 48.1% and enterprise organizations at 50.6%.

Operational Data Percentage in Cloud

52.6% of small organizations have 1%-24% of their operational data in the cloud. This is comparable to medium-sized organizations at 50.3% and slightly higher than enterprise organizations at 48.9%.

2. Cloud Services and Infrastructure

Concerns About IoT and Edge Deployments

Rising cyberthreats and security concerns are most pronounced among small organizations, with 50.3% citing this as a major issue.

Medium-sized organizations report similar concerns at 43.1%, while enterprise organizations also face these worries, with 45.6% reporting rising cyberthreats as a concern.

Investments for IoT and Edge Success

27.7% of small organizations prioritize enhancing network connectivity to remote sites and edge locations and 34.9% upgrading network capabilities to 5G.

29.4% of medium-sized organizations focus on improving network connectivity and upgrading to 5G.

40.2% of enterprise organizations place emphasis on improving edge infrastructure's cybersecurity and resiliency and 33.1% on increasing use of edge infrastructure automation.

3. Cybersecurity Concerns and Investments

43.1%

of medium-sized organizations have significant concerns about rising cyberthreats.

45.6%

of enterprise organizations are concerned with rising cybersecurity threats, 40.2% place a strong emphasis on enhancing edge infrastructure cybersecurity and 33.1% on automation.

4. Digital Infrastructure and Cloud Management

IoT/OT Integration Status

50.3% of small organizations report significant progress in IoT/OT integration.

This is higher than medium-sized organizations (42.5%) and enterprise organizations (43.8%). 

Reasons for IoT/OT Integration

Small organizations invest in IoT/OT integration primarily to enhance service performance for customers (29.0% of respondents) and to achieve more efficient operations (22.8% of respondents).

Medium-sized organizations also focus on improving service performance and operational efficiency with 24.2% and 24.8% of respondents, respectively, stating these as reasons for IoT/OT integration.

Enterprise organizations state comprehensive security coverage (25.0% of respondents) and enhanced safety (26.8% of respondents) as top reasons for IoT/OT integration.
